Agribusiness

Leadership and safety culture on farms, at harvest fronts and in storage, taking into account the crop season, the distances involved and who does the work.

Context

Safety needs to keep pace with the harvest

In the field, working conditions change with the weather, the crop stage and the arrival of new teams. A harvest front may move while other activities continue on the farm. Whoever coordinates this work needs to understand the risks of each situation and be clear about which decisions they can make.

Distance from headquarters matters too. Guidance that seems clear in a corporate meeting can reach the operator, the service provider or the supervisor in a different form. It is worth looking at how people receive that guidance, which questions they are able to raise and what happens when they find a condition different from what was planned.

Crop planning, hiring and the availability of resources shape these choices. Understanding safety culture in agribusiness therefore means listening both to those who set priorities and to those who know the work at the operational fronts.

Our work

Listening to the field and bringing decisions closer to senior management

The assessment can combine visits to work fronts, conversations with teams and leaders, and analysis of management practices. How the sites are spread out and where the agricultural cycle stands shape how this listening is designed.

From there, the work helps define responsibilities and routines that make sense for each audience. Leadership development and follow-up on the tools draw on real operational situations, leaving room to revisit whatever is not being understood or used.
